Job Description

Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Snowflake Lead/Architect who will also perform hands-on development to design, build, and implement our enterprise cloud data platform using Snowflake. This hybrid role combines strategic architectural leadership with active involvement in coding, data pipeline development, and platform optimization. You will help shape the foundation of our modern data architecture while directly contributing to scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions across domains such as Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain.

As a Snowflake Lead/Architect, you will collaborate closely with data engineers, BI developers, data governance teams, and business stakeholders to ensure architectural consistency, optimize platform performance, and maintain data integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

Architecture & Design:

  • Architect and design end-to-end Snowflake solutions including landing zones, staging layers, DataMarts, and semantic layers based on Medallion architecture principles.
  • Define and enforce data modeling best practices (dimensional, star, snowflake schemas) to ensure performance and scalability.

Hands-On Development:

  • Develop, test, and deploy Snowflake SQL scripts, stored procedures, tasks, streams, and materialized views to implement business requirements.
  • Build robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake and transformation frameworks such as DBT.
  • Create and maintain data ingestion workflows integrating sources like Fivetran, Azure Blob Storage, CRM, ERP, and Marketing systems.
  • Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshoot data issues in Snowflake environments.

Platform Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Drive architectural standards for Snowflake development, data ingestion, transformation, and consumption.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to implement the best practices and maintain data pipeline reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews for developers and engineers working on the platform.

Governance & Security:

  • Define and implement data governance, security, and access control strategies leveraging Snowflake RBAC, masking policies, and data sharing capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, lineage, and regulatory requirements.

Performance & Optimization:

  • Continuously monitor Snowflake usage and recommend improvements for warehouse sizing, query performance, credit usage, and storage efficiency.

Innovation & Roadmap:

  • Stay current with Snowflake features, cloud data trends, and marketplace offerings to drive innovation.
  • Contribute to the overall data platform roadmap including AI/ML readiness and real-time analytics enablement.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in data architecture, engineering, or developer roles.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience architecting, developing, and optimizing Snowflake solutions.
  • Strong SQL proficiency with experience writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Expertise in ELT/ETL frameworks (DBT) and data ingestion tools like Fivetran.
  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services including Azure Blob Storage and Azure Data Factory.
  • Deep understanding of modern data architecture principles (Medallion architecture, Data Vault, Data Mesh).
  • Proven ability to implement data governance and security controls on Snowflake platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Snowflake Certification
  • Experience with CI/CD for data platforms (Git, Terraform, dbt Cloud).
  • Knowledge of Power BI integration with Snowflake.
  • Exposure to AI/ML data pipelines and analytics enablement.
  • Familiarity with metadata management and data lineage tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership, architectural thinking, and hands-on development skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Effective communicator capable of bridging business and technical teams.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and advocate for best practices.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and results-driven mindset.
