The Associate/Product Support Engineer at Northrop Grumman is responsible for technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation of aerospace support equipment. The role involves coordination with manufacturing, performing environmental testing, and ensuring design and quality objectives are met throughout the product lifecycle. Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Product Support Engineer/Product Support Engineer . This position will be located at our Aeronautics Systems sector in El Segundo, CA, Redondo Beach, CA, Palmdale, CA or Rancho Bernardo, CA .

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Product Support Organization .

The selected candidate will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Other duties include:

  • Plans and executes schedules for engineering design package development and release to meet mission needs

  • Technical impact assessment, planning and strategy for change implementation

  • Gathering of data, requirements development, interfacing with suppliers, and performing basic stress and tolerance analysis

  • Acting as manufacturing liaison during build process of projects to ensure overall quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved

  • Development of test plans and performing environmental testing of Support Equipment

  • Testing and integration of manufactured Support Equipment

  • Basic knowledge of design and analysis tools for mechanical design as well as basic drafting skills to include a working knowledge of solid modeling techniques (NX, Pro Engineer, or Catia). 

This requisition may be filled at either an Associate Product Support Engineer (T01) or Product Support Engineer (T02)

Basic Qualifications for an Associate Product Support Engineer (T01)

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below

criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be completing or has completed their Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

  • Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). Final approved U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access may be required to start.

  • Experience with 3D modeling tool.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft suite of tools (PowerPoint, excel, word, etc.).

Basic Qualifications for an Product Support Engineer (T02)

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be completing or has completed their Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.

  • Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). Final approved U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access may be required to start.

  • Experience with CATIA and familiarity with the TeamCenter release tool.

  • Understand all aspects of equipment development, encompassing all phases of design, including concept and detailed design development, CAD modeling efforts, documentation release, fabrication, integration, and testing.

  • Experience with engineering, manufacturing, and development life cycle.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft suite of tools (PowerPoint, excel, word, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.

  • Previous internship/co-op or other work experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular).

  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance and Support Equipment.

  • Ensure pertinent design factors such as contractual, environmental, cost, schedule, technical performance, system integration, producibility, interchangeability, and material requirements are considered during development and program execution.

  • Ability to understand engineering challenges, coordinate with NG Engineering team in identifying paths for engineering solutions for support equipment.

  • Ability to take complex technical challenges and decomposing the information into chart packages to brief to program management & leadership team.

  • Experience with JIRA, CPLM, or other configuration management tools.

  • Excellent technical writing skills, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Pay Range

  • Associate Product Support Engineer : $67,400.00- $101,000.00

  • Product Support Engineer : $81,300.00 - $121,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
