Job Summary/Company :
Sparks Group, partnered with a successful and growing Government Contractor (manufacturer), is seeking a talented, mission-motivated Senior Accountant to be a key member of their Finance and Accounting team, reporting to the VP. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional with substantial experience in Government Accounting and a strong technical accounting foundation. • General Ledger & Reconciliations: Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, credit card statements, and the line of credit account.
• Close Process Support: Actively assist in the timely and accurate completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Analyze Project Status Reports and other month-end reports to provide key financial insights.
• Transaction Processing: Review and process Accounts Payable bills, credit card transactions, and process Accounts Receivable bills.
• Compliance & Audit: Assist with the preparation and filing of Sales and Use Tax, process 1099s, and support audit and tax requirements.
• Collaboration: Serve as a key resource, collaborating with internal staff, external vendors, and customers on various accounting functions.

Qualifications/Background Profile :

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Substantial Government Accounting experience is mandatory, along with a minimum of 5 years' experience working extensively with general ledgers.
• Strong technical accounting background and proficiency in Excel and database management skills.
• Experience with JAMIS (Job Costing Accounting Software) is a significant plus.
• Self-starter capable of working proficiently both independently and as part of a team, with exceptional interpersonal, communication, analytical, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines consistently with strong attention to detail.
