Software Quality Assurance Tester - Distributed 3D Simulation Cambridge, MA What you will do: Our flagship product, VR-Engage, lets users fly aircraft, drive tanks, and play first-person roles in massive virtual worlds. As part of our QA team, you’ll dive into these experiences daily, testing how they work across VR headsets, motion devices, and distributed simulation networks. You will work on-site in our Cambridge labs, collaborating closely with engineers in Cambridge and remotely to test and break things. In this role you will: Design and execute test plans that go beyond the basics — focus on real-world scenarios in large-scale, networked environments. Explore and stress-test immersive 3D simulations: from graphics performance to multi-user interoperability. Work side-by-side with developers to validate new features and find creative ways to break things before customers do. Identify, log, and track issues with Jira, and clearly communicate findings to the team. Experiment with test automation and scripting to streamline repeatable scenarios. Help represent MAK at occasional tradeshows or customer visits. What you need to be successful: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Game Development, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience testing/playing with complex distributed games and virtual environments. Strong grasp of VR hardware/software, game engines, and 3D rendering pipelines. Experience testing complex, graphics-heavy applications (Unreal, Unity, VBS, or similar). Curious, dynamic mindset — someone who enjoys experimenting, exploring, and breaking things in distributed systems. Additional preferred skills: Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and scripting. Exposure to Agile/Scrum workflows and tools like Jira/Confluence. Background in simulation, gaming, or defense is a plus (but not required).
