Manager of Investigations

Location: Raleigh, NC / Hybrid

Position Summary

The Manager of Investigations is responsible for leading and executing internal and external investigations related to theft, fraud, shrink, and policy violations across Victra’s 1,500+ store network. This position works in direct support of the Regional Asset Protection Managers (RAPMs) and in close partnership with the Director of Field Asset Protection to ensure cases are opened promptly, tracked accurately, resolved in a timely manner, and documented in accordance with company policy. Success in this role requires strong investigative skills, cross-functional partnerships, and the ability to turn case findings into actionable improvements that protect company assets and strengthen compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Investigations & Case Management

  • Lead and coordinate investigations related to theft, fraud, shrink, and operational violations.
  • Support RAPMs by providing investigative resources, data analysis, and field coordination.
  • Partner with the Director of Field Asset Protection to ensure consistent investigative standards across all regions.
  • Ensure all cases are initiated, documented, and closed in a timely and consistent manner following established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed case files, including evidence, interview notes, and final reports, in the company’s case management system.
  • Track investigation progress and ensure deadlines are met for escalations, interviews, and resolution.
  • Analyze exception reports, transactional data, and field intel to identify patterns and emerging risks.

Partnerships & Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with RAPMs, Store Operations, Human Resources, and Legal.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement agencies to support case prosecution where applicable.
  • Provide investigative guidance, resources, and training to field leaders and store teams.
  • Collaborate with compliance and audit functions to turn investigative findings into process improvements.

Fraud, Shrink, & Compliance Oversight

  • Monitor high-risk activity and exception reporting to detect potential fraud or policy violations.
  • Identify and address root causes of shrink through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ensure investigative processes comply with company policies, operational standards, and applicable laws.
  • Recommend corrective actions, including process changes, control enhancements, or disciplinary measures.

Reporting & Accountability

  • Prepare and deliver timely investigation summaries, trend analysis, and risk reports to leadership.
  • Track and report key investigative metrics, including case volume, resolution timelines, and recovery amounts.
  • Provide clear, actionable reporting that drives accountability and supports decision-making.

What We Are Looping For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of investigative experience in retail asset protection, corporate security, or law enforcement.
  • Strong interviewing skills; CFI (Certified Forensic Interviewer) or CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Skilled in data analysis, exception reporting, and case documentation.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
