Program Summary 

The Hawaiian Airlines Maintenance Technician Development Program is geared towards individuals who want to gain the skills needed to receive their Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) licenses. The program requires enrollment in a FAR 147 certified program and offers mentorship and a defined path towards certification and starting a career with Hawaiian Airlines.

 

If accepted into the program, the individual signs an agreement to work for Hawaiian Airlines for a minimum of 30 months. Upon completing the FAR 147 requirements and obtaining their A&P license, participants will become a Hawaiian Airlines Technician.

 

Key Duties

  • Currently enrolled and in good standing with an approved A&P school.
  • Maintain effective communication with the company on curriculum progress.
  • Commit to work for Hawaiian Airlines for 2.5 years post program completion and sign an agreement confirming this requirement.

Program Specific Experience, Education and Skills 

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a certified FAR 147 FAA Airframe and Powerplant Program.
  • Obtain and maintain A&P License within 90 days of graduation.
  • Possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to consistently lift 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach and grasp.
  • Ability to perform set procedures.
  • Able to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Be organized and pay attention to details.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Flexible to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain a current and valid passport allowing unrestricted travel, without a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP), to and from the U.S.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain an airport AOA badge.
  • Must have own tools upon starting aircraft maintenance position (list provided while in the program).
  • Must be able to become qualified to perform engine run and taxi on Hawaiian Airlines aircraft.
  • Must be able to become qualified on Hawaiian Airlines aircraft.
