Description
We’re looking for a skilled Data Center Fiber Technician to support ongoing infrastructure projects in Abilene, TX . This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing, who thrives in fast-paced environments and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
Level II
•\tPerforms mid-level splicing functions for aerial, underground, and ISP cable routing on various projects
•\tAdvanced ability to read and interpret construction prints, drawings, and splice matrixes to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled
•\tAbility to determine equipment needs, cable route, cable direction, safety best practices, and perform splicing functions within a live customer facility
•\tIndependently and safely performs mid-sheath cable entry using proper tools
•\tPerforms mid-level single and/or ribbon splices with the understanding large cable count numbering
•\tAbility to read/process test results and problem solve basic issues identified during troubleshooting
•\tProficient in mid-level OTDR and power meter testing
•\tAbility to install and/or research installation procedures for all splice enclosures
•\tPerforms basic cable relocations and hot cuts while maintaining cable organization
•\tEffectively communicates with internal (training peers) and external stakeholders (customers, subcontractors, etc.), addressing issues as they arise and offering customer-centric solutions
•\tResponds timely to critical situations and emergency outages with an appropriate level of urgency
•\tMaintains full understanding of safety risks while working in a safety sensitive position, adhering to all safety requirements and standards
•\tPerforms other duties as assigned by leadership
Level III
• Performs complex splicing projects for both new and existing customers with little to no direction
• Independently troubleshoots customer networks and reads/processes test results to provide customer deliverables
• Creates Smart Sheets and Excel trackers to accurately track project schedules and progress
• Independently reads/interprets prints and create work assignments for other Technicians
• Accurately collects all pertinent information from pre-job inspections and customer field meetings
• Supports operational leadership with the management of on-site project elements such as time, materials, documentation, production updates, tool, and equipment
• Professionally interacts with and communicate with external vendors, customers, subcontractors, and internal leadership to ensure accurate information is disseminated to all parties
• Proactively identifies and escalates project and personnel issues to operational leadership where appropriate
• Creates training plans and conduct training for other Technicians and serve as a leader in the field driving quality, efficiency, production, and safety
• Utilizes expert-level splicing skills to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements
• Possesses advanced understanding of all safety risks while working in a safety sensitive position, adhering to all safety requirements and standards
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $40.00/hr.
