Creative Program Manager, Technical Publications, Device Packaging Experience

Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create?

Role: We are seeking a talented and driven Creative Program Manager, Technical Publications, to manage and execute the Amazon Device Packaging User Experience (UX) documentation development within the Device Packaging Experience (DPX) team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing workflows and developing Quick Start Guides, Warranty Safety Legal Documents, User Manuals, and Setup Guides. Demonstrating ownership, customer obsession, bias for action, and delivering results while maintaining high standards are essential.

Key responsibilities:

1. Manage day-to-day inbox documentation work streams across programs and handle post-production change requests.
2. Establish relationships with stakeholders and collaborate with in-house design teams and vendors to execute documentation projects.
3. Partner with cross-functional teams including product managers, legal, and compliance teams from artwork development through release to print.
4. Drive artwork approvals, manage revisions, ensure compliance, and coordinate stakeholder reviews until final production handoff.
5. Communicate schedules proactively, escalate delays when necessary, and maintain version control.
6. Track and manage programs to stay within budget and schedule, ensuring final files are sent to vendors per SOP.
7. Support initiatives to optimize processes, procedures, and best practices across teams.

Basic qualifications:

• 5+ years of design experience
• 3+ years of delivering design solutions as a UX or interaction designer
• Available online portfolio
• Experience with prototyping tools (HTML, XHTML, JavaScript, CSS, Flash, Axure, etc.)

Preferred qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience with mass-market consumer web/mobile products
• Experience working collaboratively with developers for design implementation

The salary range for this position varies based on location and experience, from $106,000 to $184,000 annually, with additional benefits and total compensation options available.
