Location: Jefferson, OH Position: Corrections Officer Job Description: Duties include but are not limited to the following; supervising and controlling inmates, protecting life and property, preventing escapes, enforcing order, discipline, and strict compliance with health and safety standards, providing consistent and equal treatment for all inmates, complying with policies, procedures, laws, completing all necessary logs and reports, conducting searches of incoming inmates, conducting initial booking or release of inmates, conducting random searches of inmates and housing areas to detect contraband, performing regular checks of inmates and housing areas, serving meals to inmates as directed, and distribution of medications to inmates as directed. Enforces rules and regulations governing facility security, inmate conduct, and inmate accountability. Skills: Successful candidates will have a strong work ethic, will possess good organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills, will be flexible, possess good crisis intervention and problem-solving skills. Must be physically capable of performing the job responsibilities of a corrections officer. Females encouraged to apply.
