The Fetal-Neonatal Neuroimaging and Developmental Science Center at Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a full-time research assistant for the NIH funded project on development, implementation and testing of novel, time-efficient in vivo imaging techniques for pediatric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Candidates with a strong interest in learning more about the technical aspects of MRI acquisition and image analysis would excel in this position. This position might include regular after-hour study sessions. Key Responsibilities Consents and recruits patients for research studies through personal interviews and written communications with patients/families. Provides detailed background information regarding studies to families, communicates all policies and procedures, and responds to all inquiries. Evaluates suitability of prospective study candidates and makes selections based upon clinical knowledge of each study. Troubleshoots resolution of any issues that may arise throughout the study. Coordinates and prepares the necessary documentation for Institutional Review Board IRB and Committee on Clinical Investigations CCI submissions, together with the Private Investigator of the study. Creates and prepares data collection statistical reports and analytical summaries for distribution to study research team for review and analysis. Monitors and reviews data collection and data entry, and informed consent procedures ensuring consistency of application for each study. Participates in the training of newly hired research study assistants, as required. Coordinates activities between the hospital and research laboratories. Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in public health, education, psychology, social sciences, or biological sciences field and relevant work/research experience. Experience Great organizational and interpersonal communication skills, as well as attention to details are required. Prior research experience involving recruitment of, or working with sensitive clinical populations with chronic neurological diseases (e.g. brain tumors), as well as IRB preparation and maintenance, is desired. Excellent verbal communication skills are essential. Excellent writing skills are essential.
